Welcome to the SPS News List Service

What is the List and how does it work?

The SPS News List Service is a LISTSERV maintained on the Angeles Chapter Website. This service provides a forum available to SPS members and Echo Subscribers. It allows SPS members to send a single e-mail to ALL members subscribing to the list. Please note that the List is moderated and all postings are reviewed by the Moderator. All posts to the List will reviewed to see they are courteous, polite and on topics related to climbing in the Sierra Nevada.

What can I use the List for?

SPS members can use the list to solicit information about and discuss current climbing and weather conditions in the Sierra Nevada. Trip leaders can use the list to fill vacancies on SPS trips. Discussion topics may also address Section and Sierra Club outings requirements and practices. The Management Committee may use the list to disseminate information of interest to the membership. Private trips may be posted to the list as a service to SPS members and Echo subscribers. If you should chose to participate in an private trip, you are individually responsible for evaluating whether the trip leader and any other participants are safe, responsible and the the private outing is suitable for you. The SPS, the Angeles Chapter and the Sierra Club make no representations about the suitability or appropriateness of private trips posted on the List.

Can I join if I am not an SPS member or Echo Subscriber?

The E-mail list is open only to SPS members and Echo subscribers. If you are not a member or subscriber, we encourage you to join.
